Discussion Questions : 

1. What was one of the more difficult seasons that you've had to go through in your life? 
2. Why does Job curse the day of his birth? What are the things that could be taken from you that may cause you to wonder if life is worth living? 
3. What is the difference between the Old Testament people's understanding of the afterlife and our understanding of it in light of New Testament teaching? How can our deeper understanding of the afterlife help us in our suffering? 
4. In the sermon, Pastor Steve argued that for many of us the statement "God is good" cannot be separated from the statement "Life is good." Do you think this is true? How can God be good if life isn't good? 
5. In v.25 Job confesses that his suffering was the fulfillment of a lifelong fear that bad things would happen to him. What does this say about his view of God? Can you identify with Job's fear? 
6. What questions about suffering does the cross of Jesus answer? What questions remain unanswered by the cross?
