​Joy is a relational emotion, the feeling of being in relationship with someone who is happy to be with us. Paul urges the church to rejoice in the Lord, to feel what it feels like for God to be happy to be with us. As we begin a new school year, may we strive to feel that joy of God’s pleasure.

Joy results when our deepest longings find their rest in the promises of God.
