Summer Small Groups (2021)
As announced on Sunday April 11th, we will be starting a new sermon series in mid-May on the "Sermon on the Mount" and with the weather warming-up and more of our members getting vaccinated, this is a great time to join (or-rejoin) the community life of our church! Nothing can take the place of in-person face-to face gatherings and we hope the coming months will mark a new season of ministry at ICC.
What do I do if I'm interested in being part of a summer group?
If you are currently part of a small group or pod please make sure to attend your next meeting as we have asked each of the leaders to discuss whether you would like to stay together as a group or not through this series which will run from mid-May through September. If you are not part of a group currently or looking to reset with a newly formed group/pod, this new series will also give you the opportunity to do that.
What do I do if I'd like to form or join a new group?
If possible, we are asking you to take the initiative to form your own groups with those who are in a similar life-stage (e.g. young adults, families with similar aged-children, parents of Catalyst youth group students, etc). This is to maximize points of connection and opportunities for inter-generational ministry. That said, we know some of you may be newer to the church or may need help connecting with others looking for a group so we'd be happy to help assign you to one! Just fill out the short questionnaire linked HERE by Mon April 26th and Pastor Peter will be in touch with you.
What is the size of each group expected to be?
While we feel a triad is ideal (group of 3, if all are committed), we are flexible on the size of each group. For example, if you want to form a group of 4 couples/families or 6 young adults that is fine OR if you are part of a small group that is even larger than that, we are ok with allowing you to continue in that larger group format if this is the group preference and it can be done safely in-person.
What will be the format of each meeting?
The meetings will be a discussion of the previous Sunday sermon and will be centered primarily on sharing and application so it will be more informal in nature and a group leader will not even really be necessary. Our hope is that these groups will not only meet for weekly sermon discussions but also engage socially to allow for deeper connections (e.g. outdoor activities, BBQ's, weekend trips, etc).
NEXT STEPS
Over the next week or two your current group leader will guide a discussion on how you want to move forward as a group, so please make sure to attend your upcoming group meetings. If you are not part of a pod right now, please reach out to me at peter@immanuelcommunity.org or your Community Group leader (if you used to be part of one) and we can help get you connected with a group.
QUESTIONS?
Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. If you missed the extended announcement on this on Sunday (April 11th) click below to see to the announcement on Community Groups.
