2018 Summer Small Groups
Our regular community groups are taking a break for the summer but that doesn't mean you have to stop growing and connecting! As we do each year, we are forming a number of topically-based small groups for the summer season and we're excited to see how God uses them to grow you in Christ and in community! The groups will meet in various homes over six sessions beginning in June and will typically be centered around a brief video teaching time (~30 minutes) followed by group discussions facilitated by a leader. This is a great opportunity to study a topic that interests you, connect with others outside your regular community group, or even try out a group for the first time. We are encouraging everyone to participate! You can sign up by clicking the REGISTER button below. PLEASE REGISTER BY NO LATER THAN MONDAY, MAY 21ST. More information about each study is provided below. We will reach out to you before the end of May after we get a gauge of the interest level for each topic and will do our best to place you in a group based on your input from your registration. If the determined time and location does not work for you there will still be an opportunity to switch to another group before they all begin. We are planning on having summer groups open with a fellowship gathering the week of June 4th. Feel free to contact Pastor Peter with any questions.
FORGOTTEN GOD: Reversing Our Tragic Neglect of the Holy Spirit (Francis Chan)
Facilitator: Intaek & Petra Choi Time: Friday evenings Location: Northbrook/Glenview area As Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised to send the Holy Spirit—the Helper—so that we could be true and living witnesses for Christ. Unfortunately, today's church has admired the gift but neglected to open it. Francis Chan rips away paper and bows to get at the true source of the church's power—the Holy Spirit. Thorough scriptural support and compelling narrative form Chan's invitation to stop and remember the One we've forgotten, the Spirit of the living God and instructs us on how to invite more of His power and presence into our daily lives. |
The Art of Marriage (Family Life)
Facilitator: Pastor Steve & Betty Lee Time: Tuesday evenings Location: Wheeling/Northbrook Every marriage is unique, expressed by the colorful personalities of each spouse and textured by the circumstances at play in their lives. Blending these to make marriage work is a divinely inspired art form. The Art of Marriage weaves together expert teaching, real-life stories, humorous vignettes, and more to portray both the challenges and the beauty of God's design. Hear biblically-centered teaching from couples who have struggled in marriage and honestly share their stories of pain, loss, forgiveness, and grace. Couples will explore God's purpose and plan, overcoming isolation, communication and conflict, experiencing real intimacy, and leaving a lasting legacy. We are requesting couples who are parents to arrange for childcare (unless infants) on their own for this study. |

In this seminar and study we will provide important interpretation guidelines and give you the tools to make the BIble come alive so that you will understand not only the meaning of biblical texts but also learn how to apply it more powerfully in your life. Your faith will be strengthened as you explore all of the different genres of the Bible and grow in your understanding and appreciation for God’s Word. FAITH AT WORK
Facilitators: Hamin Cho Time: Friday evenings Location: Des Plaines Have you wondered how your job fits into how you serve God with your life? Have you ever felt that those who really love God are those that devote themselves to full-time vocational ministry or missionary service? Do you feel a disconnect between Sunday at church and Monday at work? In this study we will explore a theology of work, and key biblical passages that provide guidance on how a Christ-follower should view their vocational work from a biblical perspective. We will explore and discuss how God calls everyone, especially those in the marketplace to serve God in the kingdom story that He is writing through human history. Come and see how God calls us to integrate our faith and our work and discover the joy of bringing every part of your world under the rule of His kingdom. Sorry but there is no promo video available for this study.

GOLIATH MUST FALL (Louis Giglio) - Men Only Group
Facilitator: Peter Cho Time: Tuesday evenings Location: Wheeling (ICC) Men face many unique temptations and struggles in this life and as a result we encounter adversaries and strongholds that diminish our ability to live full and free lives. Frozen in the grip of rejection, fear, anger, comfort, or addiction, we lose sight of the promise God has for our lives and we often find ourselves demoralized and defeated — settling for far less than God’s best. But the Lord has a better plan for you. Come and find comfort in knowing that no temptation has seized you except that which is common to all men and discover the victory that is found in Christ and in community with other men. Please note this study is open to men only. |
