GIVING TREE 2021
Do not deprive the foreigner or the fatherless of justice, or take the cloak of the widow as a pledge. Remember that you were slaves
in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you from there. That is why I command you to do this. -Deuteronomy 24:17-18

In these troubled times, we find hope that this world is not our home and we are looking forward to the renewal of all things. However, as sojourners experiencing our own exile from our eternal home, we are called to especially show compassion and care for the poor, the immigrants and the disenfranchised. In that spirit, we want to invite our church once again to participate in the "Giving Tree" which serves the poorest immigrant families in our local school communities (Eugene Field & Booth Tarkington) in Wheeling. The vast majority of these schools are made up of Hispanic families who are on a free or reduced lunch program and in this pandemic they have been hit particularly hard.
You can sign up by clicking HERE (or black button above) to sponsor a family who has expressed a specific need you can fill. Please follow the directions below if you are purchasing gifts and note instructions for drop-off. This is especially a great opportunity for parents who wish to include their children in participating and teaching the meaning of Christmas. We are looking to support 75 families in our community this year so we want to encourage everyone to participate!
You will be able to sign up to buy gifts for children as well as contribute money so that the church can purchase gift cards for groceries and gas for each family. Please look over the list and sign up to purchase gifts for a child and/or gift cards for groceries and gas.

- The wish list is a guide. You don’t need to purchase everything listed. The total amount of gifts for each child should be about $40. Please include gift receipts, if possible.
- Gifts should be wrapped with the ID code (i.e., [School Name] REF#) on the outside of the package. Since we cannot distribute pre-printed ID cards, please include the ID on a gift tag. This step is very important, so gifts get to the correct children.
- Gifts may be brought to church on Sunday, Dec 12. You can also coordinate with Carol to arrange a drop off time during OSEFC/ICC office hours during the week. On Wednesday, Dec 15, some of the OSEFC and ICC staff will deliver these gifts to the schools before the students go on break.
- Contact Carol Lee with any questions or to arrange a drop off time.
