UNDERSTANDING MY EMOTIONS (led by Kimberly Cho)
Building off Pastor Steve’s parenting seminars and specifically emotions-based coaching, Kim would like to come alongside parents & children to help children (ages 5-10) understand and manage their emotions. Through the use of stories, parents will create bridges to meaningful conversations with their children that tap into understanding their emotions and how it intersects with a personal faith. We will be using illustrations and stories based on different animal families so even our younger children (K and up) can be engaged. However, don't let this fool you, the stories are deep enough to engage older elementary as well. This can be an option for children who have parents joining any adult group/seminar this summer. FORMAT Beginning the week of July 5th, Parents will join Kim on a short Zoom (as a preview) to hear what story and emotion will be covered for the upcoming week. Parents will also be given the biblical framework in which they can help children process the particular emotion and grow through them. Each week, parents are given tools which will include a day-to-day connecting point, treasure verses and an opportunity to share and grow from our journey of parenting together. A recorded read aloud will be available for parents to refer back to the story as needed and may be used as a tool for children to hear the story again during the week. Children will log on during the week where Kim will read the story aloud and interact with the children over Zoom. Some probing and thought provoking questions will be shared and a time of prayer will close our time together weekly. The bulk of the coaching will be on the parents to have meaningful conversations at home. We firmly believe parents are called to be the primary disciplers of their children and the church would like to come alongside and support you as we walk this journey through emotions together. BOOKS (TOPICS) 1. Gus Loses His Grip (when you want something too much) 2. Jax’s Tail Twitches (when you are angry) 3. Buster’s Ears Trip Him Up (when you fail) 4. Tori Comes Out of Her Shell (when you are lonely) 5. Zoe’s Hiding Place (when you are anxious) 6. Henry Says Good-Bye (when you are sad) REGISTRATION To sign up simply click on the button below and register by June 28. This form will be used to determine the best time to set the weekly large group meetings for the children as well as the weekly Parent Preview Zoom will be held on Sat or Sun (Time TBD by parents) based on results from the forms. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Kimberly Cho at [email protected] |
