What is your favorite game to play and why? You can also share about one of the most fun times you remember having. What made that time so enjoyable?
Edgar Brian, in his book, "The God Who Plays" wrote the following: "Play is the spontaneous expression of a free spirit, of something done purely and only because one wants to do it. There is no compulsion, for no one can be forced to play. And there are no ulterior motives in play—it is done only for its own sake. The one playing simply takes pleasure and delight in the playing. A playful spiritual life is one that emphasizes joy, imagination, delight, freedom, grace and love. Really, play is too good to be left to children!" How would you describe the nature of your relationship with God? Has play ever been a part of your experience of Him? If so, what are some examples of God playing with you?
Read Luke 18:15-17 & Mark 10:13-16. What is so special about the faith and heart of a child? Why is it more challenging to regain as you get older?
How can you incorporate more play and a play attitude into your spiritual practices and times with God?
How can you enrich your time with others using play, fun, and creativity?
